Since graduating in 2014 with a BA in International Affairs and a minor in German, Conan Smeeth has been working as an English as a Second Language teacher in Moscow, Russia, working with children and adults of all levels. So far, he enjoys what he does (but not the Russian winter), and currently has no plans to return home in the near future.

Clare Stechschulte, a student of economics during her time at UMW, was recently chosen as a “Kakehashi Scholar” wherein she was selected by the Japanese government to travel to Japan along with eleven other American economists to learn more and consult the Japanese on multiple aspects of their economy. To experience the Japanese economy and various other Asian markets first-hand had been a goal of hers since her International Economics class during her undergraduate studies. Clare was extremely honored to have received this distinction, and owes all of her success to the exceptional economics education she received at the University of Mary Washington.

Ellen White began studying at Princeton Theological Seminary in Fall 2017.
