In December 2015, Ariel Place graduated from Argosy University DC Campus with her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She just accepted a new position in Sacramento, CA as the Director of Admissions for Valley Recovery Center. Ariel moved to Folsom, CA in June 2017, where she will fill this role as well as continue to work towards her licensure in counseling.

Michelle Ryder completed her MBA and a Masters in Healthcare Management at Marymount University and recently started the PhD in Higher Education program at ODU.

Aaron Richardson got married in April to Anna Neumeister in Charlottesville. He returned to The Daily Progress in March as assistant city editor.

Sarah Trimble married Andrew Evans at a ranch outside Austin, TX on March 26, 2016. Her bridal party included two fellow Eagles, Dr. Jessica Zeitz Self and Amy Hruska Popp (’09), as well as two festively dressed miniature donkeys, Sally and Opie.

Rachael Wonderlin ’11 owns her own dementia care consulting business, Dementia By Day, LLC. Her book, “When Someone You Know is Living in a Dementia Care Community,” came out in November 2016 with Johns Hopkins University Press. Rachael lives in Pittsburgh, PA with her boyfriend and two cats, Sox and Shooz.

Garry Kirkland just finished a masters degree in business (MBA) and a graduate certificate in Information Assurance from Weber State University. He works in cyber security in the Salt Lake Area. His daughter, Tammara just turned 4 years old. He is thinking about teaching information systems and security as an adjunct at a local school, part time.

Christopher O’Kelley ‘12 is now the Vice President of Art First Gallery in downtown Fredericksburg.

Alaha Ahrar ‘12 became a US citizen on May 20th! Since graduating Alaha has worked as a Human Rights Activist for FACETS.

Nani Moskal ‘12 has completed her master’s degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Stephanie Hintzen ‘12 is working in Bioinformatics with Boston Children’s Hospital, Claritas Genomics and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Peter Hawes ‘12 earned a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Virginia’s Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy in May. Peter’s focus is on community development and conflict resolution.

On April 22, 2017, Kyle Allwine’12 MBA ’15 and Libby Baker, MBA’15 were married in Spotsylvania, VA. Members of the wedding party included, Kenneth Allwine II ’07 MSMIS ’12, Andrew Frisk ’12, and Michael Roche ’12.

Rachel Sheets graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC on Saturday, May 6, with an MFA (Master of Fine Arts) in Theatre Lighting Design. She is currently completing a professional internship at the Arkansas Repertory Theater in Little Rock, AR. She was awarded membership in the Golden Key International Honor Society for her academic achievement. She will be starting her career in Charlotte, NC with aspirations of designing lighting for stages all over the country.  She has her sights set on moving to Washington, D.C. in the near future and ultimately New York where she hopes to work on  Broadway. Paola Maldonado-Torres received a juris doctor degree and passed the Virginia bar in 2016. She planned to marry Adam William Bell on October 7, 2017 in South Florida. Katelynn A. Monti was to be among the bridesmaids.

Avery Dice (’13) graduated with a Juris Doctor from Elon University School of Law in May of 2017.

Carly Boucher (’13) and Jacob McCrumb (’10) were married on May 20, 2017 in Springfield, VA. The wedding party included Maid of Honor Virginia Rose Osella (’11) and Olivia Colville (’12), with many other alumni present as well.

Jen Crystle (’13) was engaged to Mike Pressl on April 1, 2017. They will be married in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware next June. Jen accepted a new position at Marymount University and continues to pursue her PhD in Education Policy at University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Britnae Purdy (’13) and Andrew Lowdon (’14) were married in the summer of 2016 in Durham, North Carolina. UMW was well-represented at the wedding, and party members included Taylor Brannan (’13), Caroline Benner (’13), Sarah Lowdon (’12), and Tatiana Lowdon (’12). Mary Sue McDonald (’62) and Professor Jack Kramer and wife Mary were also in attendance. Following Andrew’s graduation from Duke Law in May 2017, the couple moved to Alexandria, VA, where Andrew serves as a law clerk at the U.S. District Court. Britnae returned to the Mary Washington community as the Project Coordinator to Reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, and Stalking. Britnae is also currently pursuing a Masters of Public Health through the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine’s distance-learning program.

Evan Smallwood and Aaron McPherson (Class of 2012) got engaged this past March while on a trip to the Netherlands. They now live in Santa Cruz, California, where Evan works in philanthropy at the Monterery Bay Aquarium.

Adam Hunter writes: I’m getting married! I proposed to Gwendolyn Corkill (2013 alum) this May up here in Boston. We went to the Museum of Fine Arts and a Red Sox game. I proposed while we were walking through the Fens on the bridge where we first learned we were moving to Boston two years ago.

I am the Retail Operations Manager at Crimson Bikes — Giant Boston; a bike shop in The Fenway which stares down at “The Green Monster” only two blocks away. I operate a full-service bike shop, host weekly rides, and seasonal events in/around New England.

We don’t really know what we’re doing next, but, we do know we’re going to be getting married in VA about one year from now.

May Townley writes: Right now, I’m showing my artwork at a small gallery in Fredericksburg and in Richmond, Virginia.   I’m working on building wheel-throwing skills and am planning several ceramics sales events.  I have several art projects in my plans for the the near future and am gearing up for a relaxing summer at home at our lakefront community in Lake Anna before taking a position in the fall teaching youngsters how to pinch, coil and slab their own pots at the Arts Center in Orange, Virginia, and in the meantime in my own studio, I will continue making great ceramics, paintings, and sculpture!
